While growing up in a small town, Modern Drummer magazines were my gateway to read about people with the same 'sickness' I had. I'd stop by the only shop in town every month to get the latest and the February 1990 Charlie Watts issue was when I started collecting them. Once I started going to drum clinics, I'd take an issue to have the artist sign it if they were the featured or secondary story. That started with Liberty DeVitto and carried through into the late 90's after moving to Nashville.
Here's a gallery of the autographed covers I have in the collection:
Thanks to Marc Tyler Nobleman for leading the crusade that resulted in the Bill Finger documentary, "Batman & Bill", debuting today on Hulu. He has educated a whole generation of comic fans and those who will follow them. In the broader scope, Marc is a true champion for the power of creativity and how it can forever change the landscape of popular culture.
I'm grateful and honored to be included in the credits of a documentary about characters, writers, & artists I've loved since I was a kid... especialy one that's about 'truth' and 'justice' for Bill.
